Cheese in a Bag

I love a good weekend.

Last weekend I went to New York for a
bridal shower. As always, I also enjoyed some excellent food. From heart-shaped cucumber sandwiches to a delicious Moroccan-French entrees, I love food in a big city.

One of the best food-in-New-York experiences I've had happened last time I was there. The setting was an apartment on the Upper East Side. The time was 2AM. The need for pizza was immediate.

We brought our slices back to the apartment to enjoy. I folded my slice like a paper airplane and killed it. Yum. I picked up the paper bag the pizza had come in to throw away and realized it was heavy with something. I opened it up and there it was - all the cheese had slid of the pizza and was waiting for me, warm and gooey, in the bottom of the bag. I was overcome with joy and wasted no time eating the cheese in a bag.

For a minute I thought, 'is cheese in a bag" marketable? Would other people want to eat cheese in a bag? Could I make money off of cheese in a bag? It'd be something like Elaine from Seinfeld's muffin tops. After I found some paper in my mouth, I decided the cheese is better off on the pizza.

This weekend featured one of my best friends. I'm talking about Kanye West, of course. I went to see him last night and experienced his heroic journey from a far away planet back home. I'm pretty sure he was glad I was there.

I hope he liked my outfit as much as I liked his.

Kanye West could be considered an artistic visionary, I think. His show was amazing. The set design was awesome, his voice exceeded my expectations, and at times I felt like he was performing just for me. There was just one thing... He was wearing a sweatshirt tied around his waist. What gives? Only lame-os believe this to be fashionably acceptable (Ned Flanders comes to mind). And, honestly, now that I've seen Kanye rock it, it just may be.

Before Kanye came on, I was focused on a lot more than the music. The entire venue was a literal depiction of a teenage wasteland. By that I mean everyone was high school-aged and wasted. Ew. After a bit of tailgating, I noticed the first sign of the drunken immaturity that would become blatantly obvious in the coming hour: a young girl drinking a can of bud light with a straw.

Once we started walking to the show from the parking lot, there were hilarious/tragic drunk kids everywhere. Before I realize she is simply too drunk to walk (it's 7:30 PM) I say, "Look, there's a girl getting molested by two boys at once" which didn't seem too far from the impossible at this point. Seconds later, a kid in front of us turns his head to spit. I push Adam out of the way just as the boy stops walking and pukes everywhere. Mind you there are hundreds of people around, I don't know why we were the only ones laughing. Maybe it was the kid who fell down the hill. Or the one who later passed out in his own barf in the bushes. Or the 17 year old couple doing some heavy, over-the-clothes groping.

Once Kanye came out though, it was just me and him.

Now it is raining and I am glad. When it rains I don't have to do anything except laundry.
